There is an old saying "It's all fun and games, until someone gets hurt". We could go on and on with perfectly good reasons why speed dating is as risky as playing Russian Roulette with a pistol.
Cemeteries are full of hearts of those who laughed off warnings about speed dating.
These men and women are dating on a course where as many of the dangers have been removed as possible. Dangers like the awkward first hug, the man buying the first round of drinks, someone not splitting the bill, shoulders, inappropriate dating conversation, intersections, etc are gone. They are dating in a setting that has had numerous extra safety features added to it, where tens of dollars have been spent to ensure the dater stays safe through the inevitable crash. They are dating on a closed track where they share the track only with other professional daters. If you can say the same - all of it - then go ahead - go for broke. If not - date the speed limit. It's there for a reason.
Warning - Some of you may still want to speed date, DON'T DO IT! In many cases it's worse than a first date, it's like any star wars movie after the "original three".....
