Wii-U Wii-i Wii-together.

Today marks the start of the great information overload of E3, and even before it starts Nintendo has delivered a right cross to the other console manufacturers that MAY just take the Wii brand to a new level.

For months casual and hardcore gamers alike have been yelling, crying, scratching at the walls about the Wii-U and it’s new LCD controller.

“What if I break it? what will it cost to replace??” was heard throughout the internet as gamers of all kinds saw the prototype of the new Wii-U controller, a massive looking thing with two thumb sticks, two triggers, a dpad and buttons EVERYWHERE. It was large, bulky and gimmicky looking.

Then Nintendo did the right thing, they calmed the cries of outrage stating that all previous Wii controllers would work on the Wii-U. Today, they released this:

And the hardcore gamers stopped in silence, they looked on as the X-Box-like controller image was released.

This could be the start of the “casual” systems “hardcore” gaming days, the potential for first person shooters to actually be run decently on the Wii-U.

I’m not a Wii fan, but now I’m actually a little excited to see what happens, I’m pretty much on the edge of my seat in anticipation. It is very possible that this could be a great machine for gaming, both casual party games and hardcore FPS games.

Only time will tell, but so far all the news released makes me want to buy the system when it hits stores and try to game it to death and see how much hardcore gaming it can take.
